Welcome Letter
Dear Parents,
I would like to welcome you to the Pre-Kindergarten 2 class at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs. I hope that you have had a wonderful and relaxing summer. With the year ahead there will be many challenges, for you as parents, for us as teachers, and for the children.
The first day of school can be a frightening or exciting experience depending on the child. This experience will be a journey that will lead the child to many roads of discovery and learning.
As exciting as this new experience can be, it can also be stressful for a young child. A new or different setting can be unsettling for all of us. For many children it will be their first experience of separation from parents or caregivers at home. But we assure you that the preschool staff will be available to provide support and assistance at all times; making sure that your child’s transition into the classroom will be a fun and exciting and place where they can always feel safe, happy, and secure.
Conveying a positive attitude will reassure the child that school can be a fun and exciting place. Bringing something from home like a picture or blanket to help the child adjust with the first few days will be acceptable. Provide children with information like telling them or making them aware of where you will be and when you will return will make children more at ease with their transition. I look forward to building a safe and nurturing environment by getting to know each one of you as well as your child. I hope to expose them to a fun and stimulating learning environment.
