Lesson Plans 12/17-12/21

Reminders
Friday December 21,2012 Lessons and Carols in the church at 9:00am parents, family, guardians are welcomed to join us, children will be allowed to wear dress clothes NO JEANS OR SNEAKERS.  I will be collecting $4.00 for a pizza party with drinks and cupcakes on Friday Dec.21. Reading Test on units 6(S) and 7(L) on Thursday December 20,2012. Math Test on solid figure shapes, and plane figures on Tuesday December 18,2012. Please have a wonderful holiday and please be sure to practice with your children during the break on reading, sight words, and letter sound correspondence. Thank you for your support. Classes resume on Thursday January 3,2013.

Reminders
Friday December 7, 2012 School Closed. Math quiz on Wednesday covering solid figures and shapes.Phonics Quiz on Tuesday on initial sounds for l,d,c.
Please bring in an old magazine or flyers with pictures of toys, food etc. or bring in a food flyer from a supermarket as this will help us for our social studies unit on needs and wants by Wednesday December 5th.
Students will be getting books in a ziplock to begin reading on their own on Thursday, please make sure books are returned on Monday December 10.

Lesson plans 11/19-11/23

Reminders
Mass on Wednesday November 21, 2012 at 9:00am children are allowed to come in dress clothes, please no jeans, we will also have a small class party in the afternoon of Nov, 21 children should still bring a snack. If you did not leave any money for the Halloween party please remember to leave $6.00 as this will cover children's lunch for Mcdonalds and a sweet treat afterwards. School will be closed November 22, and 23 for the Thanksgiving Holiday. I would like to wish you all a safe a Happy Thanksgiving.
I will not be giving any new sight words this week, I will use this week to review all the sight words given up to this point.

Week of 10/29-11/2

I hope that everyone has overcome the storm and that all the children and your families are safe, unfortunately we will not be celebrating Halloween due to the storm. School will resume on Monday November 5,2012 children should be in full uniform, the money given for the Halloween party will go towards our Thankgiving party in November or I will be happy to refund you back.

Friday November 26,2012 Pink day children can wear a pink shirt or sweater.
We will be having a Halloween party on Wednesday October 31, 2012. I will be collecting $6.00 for Mcdonalds for the children to eat lunch, they will still need to bring a snack for that day. Children can wear their costumes on this day and parents are welcomed to join us for the parade from 9:00am - 10:00am.

Lesson Plans 10/15-10/19

Reminders
Friday October 19,2012 Early Dismissal at 12:00 noon. Thursday October 18, 2012 Math quiz on most, fewer, and equalizing groups of objects. Last Friday October 12,2012 children were tested for vision and hearing and many children received a letter if you are parent that received a letter recommending child to see an eye doctor or hearing specialist it is imperative that you do so immediately to ensure your child's academic progress. Many children who do not have these necessary hearing or vision aides will not progress academically. Reading is fundamental in this grade and if children struggle with their vision they will lack the reading skills necessary to move on to the next grade.

Lesson Plans week of 9/17-9/21

Reminders
Tuesday's is gym and children should be in full gym uniform and sneakers. The art teacher has requested that children either bring an old t-shirt or an apron or smock for art as they will be using paint and other materials and will get dirty, art will be held on Wednesday's and the t shirt or smock can be left at school and can be sent home when they are really dirty! The book fair will be available this week for children to purchase books, I advise you to send at least $5.00 for a book as the books cost at least that much. Remember that sight words will be posted on a weekly basis and children will be quizzed.

Lesson plans 9/10-9/14

Reminders 
I have not yet received paperwork from parents, please ensure that I receive them as soon as possible. Two emergency cards are needed because one stays in the classroom and the other goes to the office. Early dismissal Friday September 14, 2012  at 12:00 noon, please make prior arrangements if your child is not enrolled in after school program. Math quiz on friday on numbers 1-10. Vocabulary words are posted for every lesson. Gym will be held on Tuesday's children should be in gym uniform and sneakers. Note that some children will have to practice handwriting in their hw notebook as this is crucial for this grade.

Kindergarten supply list 2012-2013 Academic year

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Below please find a list of the supplies your child will need in Kindergarten for the school year.
Supply list: Please label all of your child's supplies.
  • 3 blue notebooks-Please purchase them in our school supply store as the lines on these notebooks make it easier for children learning penmanship (Please put your child’s name on the notebooks)
  • Drawing pad ( Preferably a spiral notebook, with no lines) 
  • 5 pocket folders -Please purchase these in the school supply store as these are sturdy and more durable (Please put your child’s name on all folders)
  • 2 packs of #2 pencils and a sharpener
  • 2 large erasers/ or pencil cap erasers
  • 1 child friendly scissor
  • 1 pencil case (Large enough to fit crayons, pencils, etc.)
  • 3 packs of crayons
  • 1 dry erase marker with an eraser
  • 1 pack of index cards 
  • 6 glue sticks - 1 bottle of glue
  • 1 Activity or coloring book ((Please put your child’s name on the coloring or Activity book)
  • 2 boxes of Tissue
  • 2 rolls of paper towels
  • 1 can of Lysol and Disinfecting Wipes
  • 1 Purell hand sanitizer
  • 1 box of sandwich size Ziploc bags
  • 1 box of Ziploc bags ( gallon size)
  • A change of clothes (pants, shirt, underwear and socks in case of an accident.)*Please place clothes in a large Ziploc bag and label with your child’s name*

Throughout the school year I will inform you of any supplies that we might be running out of and your donations toward classroom supplies are always welcomed and appreciated.Thank you in advance for your help. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

End of Year 6/18-6/19

Reminders
Monday June 19, 2012 will be the students last day of school/ after school. Tuesday June 19,2012 at 11:00 am Kindergarten graduation children should be in full cap and gown. Please bring sturdy shopping bags on Monday 6/19 because children will be taking all of their books and belongings with them. Thank you for support through this school year. No After school program on Thursday June 14, 2012. Friday June 15,2012 school closed. Graduation will be held on Tuesday June 19,2012 at 11:00am children can wear dress clothes as this will not affect them because they will be wearing cap and gown, if you have not already done so cap and gowns are available at the tuition office if tuition has been paid in full.

Friday June 8, 2012 Early Dismissal @12noon. Math Quiz on numbers from 1-100 on Thursday June 7, 2012. I need to know how many people will be attending Graduation for purposes of ordering food as this will be covered by the principal. I will be collecting money to cover the children's food for graduation.

Tuesday Math test on measurement. Visitors will be in our classroom on Tuesday as well to observe, children are to be reminded to be on their best behavior. Students should be reading and writing on their own, the more they read the better they will be able to write.

Early Dismissal Friday March 2,2012 @ 12:00noon. Wednesday is "Hippie Day" children can dress as a hippie and students dressed in the best hippie outfit will be entered in the school contest. This week the scholastic book fair if you wish your child to purchase a book please send at least $5.00 for a book. The book fair will be held from Monday to Friday of this week. Thursday Feb.16, Class picture children should be in full uniform no NUT CARDS!!
The art teacher needs your cooperation in coming up with a slogan for car safety or getting to school safety, and knowing saftey rules of traffic. If the slogan are not turned in by thursday then your child will not be entered in the contest where they may win a cash prize.(example of a slogan= I'm loving it! McDonadls)
Valentine's day children are allowed to wear Red but absolutely no jeans allowed only dress clothes. I will be collecting $3.00 for the party to cover pizza and juice. Children should bring an additional $1.00 for the eighth grade cake sale for valentine's day as this is to help for the 8th graders graduation costs.
